Have you ever wondered about the big questions in life? Questions like: Where did everything come from? What is my purpose in life? Why is the world so messed up? Is there any hope for change? What does the future hold? What happens when I die?

All of these questions have been wrestled with for 1000s of years. How we answer them has a lot to do with the lenses through which we view the world. For us at First Southern, we believe the bible can and does address all of these thoughts. And even more, we believe the "good news of Jesus Christ", often called the gospel, gives us the answers we are looking for in this life.

The gospel tells us God has always existed and created all things, including us. It teaches us that God created mankind to bring him glory and make his name famous among the nations. We have been given the responsibility to reflect him as we journey through this earthly life. The gospel reminds us that humanity in Adam (see Genesis 1-3) blew it and made sinful choices and continues to do so today. This sin separates us from a holy God--this would leave us hopeless if there was nothing more. But there is!

This is where the news is really good--Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God, came to earth in human flesh (see John 1, Phil. 2:5-11) and lived a sinless life and gave himself up as a sacrifice to pay for the sins of all who will believe in his work. But he did not stay in the grave, he was raised from the dead on the third day overcoming the penalty of sin and the power of death. And as the Apostle John writes so famously (see John 3:16):

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

The journey together begins with understanding this "good news" that God loves you and sent his only Son, Jesus Christ to die for your sins and to be raised from the dead that you might have eternal life. You just need to believe and confess this truth! As you do, you will forever be changed and your eternal destiny will forever be changed. You will spend eternity in the presence of God in the new heavens and new earth. What a great exchange--our sin for his forgiveness and eternal life. Start the journey today, believing (see 1 Corinthians 15:3-4)...

"...Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures..."
